Huawei QSFP-40G-iSR4 Transceiver – 40GBASE-SR4, 850nm, MPO, 150m MMF

The Huawei QSFP-40G-iSR4 40 Gbps Optical Transceiver is a high-speed, short-range optical module designed for data centers, enterprise networks, and high-performance computing environments. Built on the QSFP+ (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus) standard, it provides reliable 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) connectivity for modern network infrastructures.

Operating at an 850 nm wavelength, this transceiver is optimized for multimode fiber (MMF), making it ideal for short-distance, high-bandwidth applications such as data center interconnects, aggregation layers, and core switching environments. It supports transmission distances of up to 100 meters over OM3 fiber and 150 meters over OM4 fiber, ensuring efficient high-speed communication within racks and between network segments.

The module uses an MPO (Multi-Fiber Push-On) connector, supporting parallel fiber transmission across multiple lanes. Internally, the QSFP-40G-iSR4 operates with 4 parallel lanes of 10 Gbps each, combining to deliver a total throughput of 40 Gbps. This architecture also enables 1:4 breakout capability, allowing a single 40G port to connect to four 10G interfaces using a compatible breakout cable.

Designed for operational efficiency, the transceiver features a hot-pluggable QSFP+ form factor, enabling installation and replacement without shutting down network equipment. It also supports Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), allowing real-time monitoring of parameters such as temperature, voltage, and optical power levels for proactive network management.
